St. Mary's Church is part of the Christian Church of England which
is part of the world wide Anglican
Communion.
We are part of the Deanery of York which in turn is part of the
Diocese of York.
This means that all the Churches in our area (roughly the county
of North Yorkshire) are looked after by Archbishop John Sentamu. He is
helped by three area bishops. Our Bishop is Martin Wallace, Bishop of
Selby. He is also helped by Archdeacon Richard Seed and by our Rural
Dean, Rev. Martin Baldock.
The York Diocese has its own website
which you might find useful.
As a parish we are in a team with the church of St. Mary and St.
Nicholas, commonly called 'Wigginton Church', which is located about
3/4 mile (1.2km) away in the adjacent village of Wigginton.
This arrangement means we have a Rector, and a Team Vicar
: Rev Canon Brian Gant.
Our rector retired recently so this position is currently vacant
